Attributive + Predicative Adjectives



Attributive Adjectives

 

 An attributive adjective is used before a noun to modify it.


attractive, beautiful, lovely, fair, graceful, interesting, ……………………….

an attractive bag                a beautiful girl,           those lovely children

Note:
1.  Johnson, who is intelligent but lazy, seldom cares to do his homework.
     John, intelligent but lazy, seldom cares to do his homework.
2  Rahim, who is poor but generous, often donates money to the charity     
   society.    Rahim, poor but generous, often donates money to the charity   
   society. 

Adjectival Order

Predicative Adjectives


i)  After verb-to-be:

ii)  After linking verbs

He has been kind to his poor neighbour since he moved there.

Jack has to be early to work tomorrow.
Children ought to be obedient and well-disciplined.

Note:
F2 and F4 can function as adjectives.  They are called Verbal Adjectives
